The Rainbow River

Carried by the red tides we approached a waterfall gushing into the abyss below, surely about to fall to our death. Behind us we left the forest from which we had emerged battered and tired after days of seemingly endless wandering. We had been sent here as part of a team but due to the mystifying nature of the winding and dense forest we had been separated. Our means of communication had stopped working many days before, leaving us with essentially no means of finding our wayward companions. Only two of us remained in our group and we were now desperate to find our way home and hopefully find a way of contacting our friends, who were possibly still traversing the thick green expanse of the forest.

We had been sent here to analyse a mysterious river which had been recently discovered. The river, composed of a mesmerising array of colours and lines which never mixed had captivated the world’s scientists. With each nation wanting to be the first to explore and examine this phenomenon teams were quickly formed in the patriotic hope of being the first to plant a flag in the newly discovered wonder. However, the expeditions didn´t go as plan and several teams disappeared completely and the few people who did return seemed to have lost all concept of reality and fell into a stupor from which they could not wake, seemingly gripped by their own fantasies.

Faced with the unknown dangers of the river and its surroundings many countries canceled their research plans. Our team is the last to be sent into the wilderness. Myself and the other team members were well…
