Raindrops on the pond

The rain threw itself with reckless abandon onto the ground around me, seemingly with no regard for its own well-being. The other people in the park had since evacuated the area, apparently under the false impression that the rain was somehow dangerous. I remained sat there at the edge of the pond with my legs dangling in the water. I hadn´t removed my shoes. It seemed a little pointless. I wasn´t going to be using them any time soon. They were nice shoes, black, very professional. They cost me a small fortune as well not too long ago. No matter. It was too late now anyway, since the water from the pond had already infiltrated my shoes defenses and had already marched forth into my socks. Maybe I could save the socks. I shrugged my shoulders. They didn´t matter either. They belonged to the old me. The one who would have had a mental breakdown at the thought of wearing a creased shirt. Out of habit I tried to flatten my already soaked-through tie as though I was about to prepare for an important presentation. I quickly stopped myself and promptly removed the tie. Suddenly, I could breathe more clearly and inhaled the damp infused air. Why had I never been to this park before? It wasn´t too far away. I could even see my damn office. I had never even looked out of the window at this pond before.
